St Mark's College
St Marks College, the oldest residential college for the University of Adelaide is a vibrant and diverse community, drawing undergraduates and academic visitors from all over Australia and the world. It provides a supportive and academic environment in which all members are encouraged to achieve their full potential, and to participate in the sporting, cultural, musical and community life of the College. Following the completion of a recent organisational review, the College is now seeking to appoint an experienced professional to this newly created position to assist the Master with the implementation of growth and sustainability strategies.
Key responsibilities of this role will include :-
leading and managing the finance, accounting and administration functions and providing strategic advice to the Master, Board and Council in relation to all business matters;
ensuring statutory compliance, preparing financial management reports and providing advice relating to profit and loss, cost control, working capital, benchmarking, business strategy and budgets;
acting as the Secretary to the Board and Council;
managing and further developing the financial investments, as well as the physical asset portfolio in line with strategic objectives;
developing, implementing and managing an effective risk management strategy;
managing the IT, and contract and procurement requirements;
liaising with external auditors, bankers, suppliers and other external bodies;
leading, developing and motivating a small dedicated team.
With CA/CPA qualifications, you will have experience managing the finance function for a diverse organisation. A background in a similar environment or knowledge of the education sector will be well regarded but more important will be the ability to apply your technical and management skills to effectively consult and engage with a diverse range of stakeholders. An outstanding financial skill set, strong business acumen, superior communication and a warm interpersonal approach will be required.
