GENERAL MANAGER BUSINESS & STRATEGY
Grape and Wine Research and Development Corporation

The Grape and Wine Research and Development Corporation (GWRDC) is a federal statutory body established to manage the research and development (R&D) needs of the Australian wine industry. Based in Adelaide, the GWRDC plays a significant part in the success of the industry by commissioning science and technology projects which help winemakers maximise the quality attributes of their wine and assist grape growers with improved viticulture practices and techniques.

Reporting to the CEO, the General Manager Business & Strategy has responsibility for :-

• advising the Board and the CEO on overall business strategy and corporate governance issues for the organisation;
• reviewing and enhancing the organisation’s business strategies including strategic communications and general policies and procedures;
• managing GWRDC’s legal affairs including contract management;
• implementing appropriate human resources policies and procedures and ensuring legislative compliance;
• leading a small multi-disciplinary team of dedicated staff;
• coordinating the administration of the R&D function of the organisation;
• deputising for the CEO as required.

Applications are encouraged from appropriately qualified and experienced professionals with specific expertise in legal, governance, strategic and operational business management. Sound analytical and project management abilities will be important as will the outstanding people management skills inherent in successful stakeholder management and inspirational team leadership. Excellent skills in written and oral communication will also be important along with a commitment to continuous improvement. Exposure to research and/or the wine industry may be an advantage but is not essential.
