Minda Inc has a distinguished history in South Australia spanning over 110 years. The largest disability organisation in the State and world renowned in its field, Minda supports over 1,500 people with a disability providing accommodation on its historic and picturesque beachside campus, community based living, respite care, day option programs, aged care and lifestyle services. In addition, Minda manages a range of commercial business entities including laundry and catering services, manufacturing and education facilities.
In 2008 Minda’s Board together with the outgoing Chief Executive Officer (CEO) embarked on a significant organisation wide review and developed and endorsed a comprehensive strategic change management plan to deliver on its vision, and enhance its strong values and policies around inclusion, respect and choice. Subsequently Minda re-engineered its organisation structure, appointed a new highly skilled leadership team and became the first disability organisation nationally to adopt the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with a Disability. Following the recent resignation of the CEO, the Board seeks to appoint a new CEO to continue to provide the leadership and drive, implementing the visionary plan and chartering Minda’s strategic future.
The responsibilities of this rare SA leadership role will include the implementation of the overall vision, strategic direction and Board policies, whilst positively positioning Minda to respond to the challenges and opportunities in the rapidly expanding human services domain. Key will be leading and implementing change whilst effectively managing the multi-dimensional operations ensuring the best utilisation of resources. Promoting and positioning Minda as a prominent contributor to the human services sector will be critical, as will relationship management across a broad range of stakeholders including supported individuals and Association members, government entities, sponsors and partners.
This career defining leadership opportunity will suit an accomplished CEO or senior executive with experience guiding a complex multi-faceted entity in a service environment, and leading change. Strategic thinking, leadership, communication, negotiation skills, and commercial acumen are essential to perform in this challenging role.
