EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Australasian Society for the Study of Intellectual Disability
The Australasian Society for the Study of Intellectual Disability (ASSID) is a membership based peak body association, comprising national and New Zealand professional associations as well as individual members. ASSID promotes the interests, rights and contributions of people with an intellectual disability, research that promotes the wellbeing of people with disabilities, high ethical standards of practice in the field, and the dissemination of information in the disability field. As a collaborative network, ASSID works with a wide variety of stakeholders engaging them in a broad range of activities and projects.
The Board of Management is seeking to appoint a new Executive Officer to further build on ASSID’s success and to manage the relationships across its diverse stakeholder groups, identifying strengths and engaging them in appropriate projects and activities. Reporting directly to the Board and working with a variety of subcommittees on a national basis, this hands-on role will be required to :-
• develop and implement growth strategies including working with potential industry and community partners;
• secure foundation/corporate funding;
• manage and implement multiple and diverse projects;
• lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives, and apply Business Excellence principals to the day to day operations.
Applications are invited from individuals with previous senior management experience, with excellent communication abilities and experience with tender writing as well as analysing funder’s requirements. To succeed in the role, you will be analytical and astute, with demonstrable project management skills, business acumen and, strong interpersonal abilities. The role will suit a results oriented individual, with passion, energy and drive who enjoys working with multiple stakeholders and is committed to promoting the objectives of ASSID and working with people with disabilities.
This national role is offered on a flexible part time basis, location is negotiable.
